It’s the first time that any attraction has won the award two years in a row. Added to Best Visitor Attraction in the South Devon awards in 2018, it’s a three-year award-winning run! The award was announced at a virtual ceremony yesterday, leaving all the team here are delighted.
Due to COVID, the inspections for the awards were carried out virtually this year. Much of the judging was based on our reviews and social media. We thank our wonderful visitor for all their excellent feedback on Trip Advisor and Facebook. With the many changes these strange times have brought, knowing that you have enjoyed your visits here has meant so much to us.
Best Visitor Attraction wasn’t the only award Pennywell collected yesterday. Our Stock Manager, Hannah Pattle was awarded an Unsung Hero Award for all her hard work behind the scenes on the farm. Always going the extra mile is in Hannah’s DNA and the award is very well deserved.
Pennywell’s founder, Chris Murray, the original Pennywell Farmer, was runner up in the Tourism Business Leader of the Year category. This is in recognition of the contribution he has made to Devon tourism over the years. It includes being a Director at Visit South Devon and two stints as Chairman of the Devon Association of Tourist Attractions (DATA).
Chris says, “I just thank God that we have such an opportunity to sow seeds of joy and to serve people. We are in the happiness business and we are lucky enough to work in an environment that excites us every day.”
We are currently working hard in preparation for opening day on Monday 12th April. We can’t wait to see you!
