Mythical Monsters at RAMM with Jasmine Elmer
More information

Inspired by RAMM’s new exhibition 'Hollow Earth', dive into the weird and wild world of underground monsters, caves and ancient myths.

Join author, TV presenter and Ancient Worlds expert Jasmine Elmer as she leads us on a literary adventure into the realm of the legendary Minotaur.

With the head of a bull and the body of a man, this iconic Ancient Greek monster lived at the heart of the Labyrinth, far below ground. His terrifying bellow is said to be the sound of earthquakes.

After a retelling of the story we’ll explore the meaning behind the myth and discuss the underground world of the Labyrinth. We’ll meet other creatures such as the Chimera and Typhon whose incredible powers are said to be linked to volcanic activity.

After a short break to search for inspiration from the museum’s collections, get hands on and create your own mythical monster from clay to take home.

Please purchase your ticket in advance for this 2.5hr workshop – all children must be accompanied by a paying adult.
