Spring is here and the good news is that all our Devon attractions will be re-opening soon and ready to welcome visitors for the 2025 season. Some of our venues are open all year round but many do close for the winter season. It is the perfect opportunity to carry out repairs and maintenance work that cannot be done when there are visitors enjoying their facilities. Its at this time of the year that all attractions re-open and we can get busy promoting all the fantastic sites that are part of our group, promising the best days out in Devon with friends and family.
The Devon sites that re-open in March or April are:
Powderham Castle will open its gates again this Spring and is celebrating 700 years of history in 2025! The Castle in Kenton lies in a beautiful deer park on the banks of the River Exe, just a stone’s throw from the historic cathedral city of Exeter. It was first opened to visitors in 1959 and has welcomed thousands of visitors since. Learn all about it’s history and heritage at the family home of the Earl of Devon.
World of Country Life re-opens on 14th March. Devon’s multi-award-winning day out in Exmouth. A world of family fun awaits whatever the weather. You’ll find an amazing mix of animals, play areas, museums & entertainment. Plus see their website for some great special events.
Canonteign Falls re-opens on 24th March. Explore the South West’s highest waterfall, playgrounds, trails, and surprises spread across 90 acres. If you’re looking for tranquillity, then you’ll find that too. There are moss-covered streams, lakes, ancient woodlands and meadows offer the perfect peace in a world of excitement. Explore this unique combination of adventure and serenity.
Pecorama is back open again on 1st April for their 50th anniversary. Based in Beer and one of East Devon’s leading visitor attractions, it is the home to the famous PECO Model Railway Exhibition and the Beer Heights Light Railway. See the Exhibition hall displays wonderfully detailed railway layouts, in many different gauges. Plus, outdoors there’s a fleet of miniature steam locomotives pull passenger trains on a mile-long route through the grounds, over bridges, through steep-sided cuttings and a long, dark tunnel!
Devon Railway Centre re-opens on 5th April. Devon Railway Centre, at Bickleigh near Tiverton, offers a unique railway experience and boasts a host of attractions in one location, as well as a warm welcome and great value for money. Explore a range of indoor and outdoor railway themed attractions. These provide fantastic entertainment in all weathers.
Lundy Island – sailings re-start from 1st April from Bideford and Ilfracombe. Lundy is a granite outcrop which lies 18km off the coast of North Devon and at only three miles long and half a mile wide it is a place apart, peaceful and unspoiled.In a place of wide spaces and big skies, without roads, cars or pollution, simply walking is a profound pleasure. Most day visitors travel on Lundy’s own ferry and supply ship, the graceful German-built MS Oldenburg.
Watermouth Castle re-opens on 26th March. There’s an enchanting mix of children’s rides and attractions, race down the mighty Toboggan Run, splash through the Big River ride or fly your own aeroplane on the Junior Aviator. Explore the secret world of the pixies and fairies in the new Fairy Museum and take on a mini golf challenge. Get lost in the hedge maze or brave the Castle Dungeon, all set in 17 acres of beautiful dog-friendly landscaped gardens, overlooking stunning views of Watermouth Cove and the North Devon coastline.
