There’s an extra special sparkle at Devon’s Top Attractions this year in the run up to Christmas. Many more of our top attractions across the county have opened their venues in the evening, beautifully lit up for visitors to enjoy. The top attractions have worked really hard to transform their attractions into a wonderful immersive experience, one you won’t forget! Seeing your favourite attraction lit up after dark gives a whole new perspective on a well-loved day out and makes an attraction come alive in the evening. It’s a spectacular seasonal experience and guaranteed to get you right into the festive spirit admiring the hundreds of glittering lights, a real treat for the whole family. Plus, to keep the cold at bay you can tuck into some warming food and drink whilst you’re there to make your evening one to remember.
Paignton Zoo will be ending their centenary year in style with their biggest ever festive event! Join them after dark for an immersive light experience featuring a variety of beautiful, interactive light installations, entertainers and a silent disco. The journey will begin with a giant illuminated storybook inviting you to step into another magical world…from there you will adventure around the zoo and be amazed by a variety of bright, colourful and interactive light installations. The experience includes lasers, fibre optics and kaleidoscope projectors. There will be giant lit up trees and tunnels, a magical wishing well, playful lit up creatures and much more.
There’ll be lots of Christmas sparkle and festive lighting at Babbacombe Model Village’s illuminations at various dates in December and then daily from 16th to 31st. (11am – Last entry 4.30pm (except 25th and 26th December as closed). Enjoy all that the Model Village has to offer along with some delightful miniature seasonal scenes as their little folk celebrate Christmas. A Christmas character spotter sheet will add some extra fun during the daylight – will you be able to find all the miniature Santas?
Sparkling events will be around the English Riviera this wintertime! The spectacular Bay of Lights is returning to the English Riviera and it promises to be even bigger and better than last year. The Bay of Lights incorporates everything from the ‘Illumination Trail’ in Torquay, Brixham’s ‘Lanterns, Lights & ‘Luminations’, the ‘Train of Lights’ in Paignton, and seasonal illuminated events at popular local destinations such as Babbacombe Model Village, Paignton Zoo, Coleton Fishacre, Kents Cavern and more. Experience a magical Christmas grotto evening adventure at Woodlands! Running on 12th, 14th, 19th & 21st of December from 4-8pm. Meet your elf guides and adventure through the magical forest meeting all of Santa’s festive friends before arriving at his toy workshop. Sneak a peek at where magical Christmas toys and gifts are made! Journey through 10 festive themed grotto rooms and meet Santa in his grotto, plus receive a gift. Make reindeer food to take home. In North Devon, immerse yourself in festive light and sound at RHS Rosemoor and enjoy their atmospheric, illuminated trail and stunning light displays, with entertainment each evening Experience this jewel of a garden on a wondrous trail of festive light and colour. With even more amazing displays than before, this year’s longer trail includes six uplifting soundscapes to guide you through the beautiful gardens, woodlands and open spaces of RHS Rosemoor. Discover a shimmering woodland wonderland, behold a spectacular ‘field of fire’ and enjoy family entertainment every night, ranging from magicians, live music, fire artists, light performers and costumed characters.
Enjoy late night openings with rides in the dark & winter light displays. Join Crealy on selected dates throughout November & December for their Winter Twi-Light Fest and race round your favourite rides in the dark. Enjoy Winter light displays across the Park including a light tunnel and festive illuminations.
See Powderham Castle beautifully lit up at various dates in December. The Castle and Grounds take on a whole new light at their Christmas at the Castle festive celebration.
