From the 4th October, visitors to The Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth are in for a spooktacular treat this October with the Hide and Treat Halloween Trail. Hidden around the sanctuary are specially created Halloween crocheted ‘Neddies’, which children can discover following the clues on their trail sheet. This fang-tastic activity combines family fun, exercise and brainpower.
The crocheted character ‘Neddies’ have to be seen to be appreciated and are the work of talented supporter Judith Crockford. Set in the heart of the East Devon countryside, autumn is the perfect time to get out and about and discover the Sidmouth sanctuary.
There are daily talks, scenic walks, engaging exhibits, award-winning gardens and, of course, hundreds of adorable donkeys to meet. When it’s time for a break, the Taste of the West award-winning onsite restaurant ‘The Kitchen’ is the perfect place to take sanctuary. Breakfasts, lunches and tempting afternoon treats are served daily, alongside unrivalled views of the Weston valley to the sparkling sea beyond.
Before heading home, visit the Gift Shop to pick up a donkey-inspired gift or souvenir, in the knowledge that every purchase helps the charity support donkeys and mules in need.
The Donkey Sanctuary Sidmouth is open seven days a week, from 9am to 5pm. Entry to the sanctuary is free, as is parking, and dogs on leads are welcome.
